  24. Installing and running print manager
  25.  
  26. Using citizen print manager for the first time
  27.  
  28. Before loading citizen print manager for the first time you should make a
  29. backup copy of the print manager disk.  Refer to your amiga users manual for
  30. instructions on how to perform a disk copy.

  32. Warning: never use your original disk always use a copy.

  35. Installing citizen print manager
  36.  
  37. You may want to run print manager from something other than your backup copy
  38. of the program disk; e.g. a hard disk or your workbench boot disk perhaps.
  39.  Supplied in the "extra" drawer of the citizen print manager disk is an
  40. installation program to allow you to do this. You must ensure that you have
  41. sufficient disk space (220k) on the disk to which you are going to install.
  42.  If you are going to install print manager to your workbench boot disk, refer
  43. to the amiga users manual for instructions on how to make the space required.

  46. To install print manager to a hard disk
  47.  
  48. 1:  Boot your hard disk as normal
  49. 2:  Insert the citizen print manager disk in any drive
  50. 3:  Open (double-click) the "print manager" disk icon
  51. 4:  Open (double-click) the "extra" directory icon
  52. 5:  Run (double-click) the pminstall program icon
  53. 6:  Select the required language for the install program
  54. 7:  At the prompt type in the name of your hard disk and press enter. For
  55.     example: destination name? sys: [enter]
  56.     (sys: is the drive that the system has booted from)
  57.     this will copy print manager to your hard disk
  58. 8:  When the installation is finished press enter again to exit pminstall
  59. 9:  Close the "extra" window
  60. 10: Close the "print manager" window
  61. 11: Remove the disk from the drive
  62. 12: The citizen print manager has now been installed

  64. Changing the language
  65.  
  66. 1: Run the program as described earlier
  67. 2: Select the language you require from the first screen
  68. 3: Select the save icon
  69.  
  70. PMprefs program
  71.  
  72. The citizen print manager replaces the amiga printer interface for text and
  73. graphic functions. Print manager is completely compatible with the standard
  74. workbench printer drivers. Certain functions within the program have been
  75. disabled, these appear as grey and have no action. For further information
  76. about these functions press the info button on the first screen of the
  77. PMprefs program.

  79. The master menu
  80.  
  81. Printer settings page: controls the printer driver being used, the pattern
  82. used in pictures and the number of pins used when printing an image.

  84. Graphics preferences page: duplicates the functionality of the standard
  85. workbench graphics preferences plus a few additional features. See your
  86. amiga users guide for details on the use of preferences.

  88. Additional function page: as the name suggests, this menu page provides extra
  89. miscellaneous functions to improve ease of use.

  91. Colour control page: provides colour and brightness control functions to
  92. enable the user to accurately reproduce screen images on the printer.

  94. Text preferences page: duplicates the functionality of the standard workbench
  95. text preferences. See you amiga users guide for details on the use of
  96. preferences.

  100. This button restores print manager to its default settings

  102. LOAD : SAVE
  103.  
  104. These 2 buttons are used to load and save the settings you have chosen
  105. to/from a status file. This file is loaded automatically when pmPREFS is
  106. run.

  108. OK + EDIT
  109.  
  110. The OK button causes the changes you have made through the menu pages to take
  111. effect. The exit button closes down the pmPREFS program, leaving print
  112. manager installed in the memory. The + button is effectively the same as
  113. pressing ok and then exit.

  118. For further information the disk contains a doc file "english" which gives
  119. further details about each of the settings available in each screen.

  122.  an option called "print file" is available if a printed version is required.
